About Us
Broadfield Community Centre is a welcoming place. It provides a space for local people to gather and socialise, and for other organisations to deliver services and activities to benefit the local community, including lunch clubs, pre-schools and dance classes. Broadfield Community Centre is a charity relying on grants to provide these services for the local community, and all revenue made from hiring out our rooms is put back into the community centre and its services.
We offer discounts on venue hire to other charities and groups that support the delivery of community, health and educational activities.
The premises is owned by the Church of England and Roman Catholic Church, who let the land for the use of the community. The Centre itself is a registered charity (no. 1156601) overseen by a board of trustees.
We strive to improve the well-being of community and family life by creating and maintaining a Centre that provides social, health, recreational, cultural and educational opportunities to all sections of the community.
The Five Ways to Well Being, developed by the New Economics Foundation (NEF) are a set of evidence-based actions which promote people’s well-being. They are; Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. These activities are simple things individuals can do in their everyday lives. West Sussex County Council use the Five Ways to Well-being to assess need, measure impact and to help people take action to improve their well-being, we also find these measures a useful tool to evaluate our provision; specifically:
Connect: The Centre is a hub of social interactions; it brings together families and friends in mutually beneficial activates such as parent and toddler groups; The Posh Club and Swallows; adults in focussed recreational activities like Tae Kwon Do, singing practice with Crawley Operatic Society and friendly drop in sessions such as Monday Munch and the Friday Meal.
Be Active: Physical activity groups meet every evening at The Centre, from ballet classes, Zumba, baton twirling to Irish dancing the Centre is the venue for hundreds of children, young people and adults to discover a physical activity that can be enjoyed and sustained.
Take notice: The physical environment around the Centre encourages people to appreciate the green space, trees and shrubs, Recently, the provision of new play equipment has been installed by CBC.
Keep Learning: The venue is used regularly for adult continuing professional development for WSCC Early Years Providers, Enhance Services for health and safety training and the Farhat Tuition Centre teaches maths to children aged 3 to 16 years old each week.
Give: Many of the regular groups provide volunteering opportunities for individuals to share their experiences and support others. Monday Munch, Wednesday Coffee Shop, The Posh Club, Swallows, Little Builders and Teddies parent and toddler groups, Oceans and Rivers, Crawley Healing Rooms, Crawley Operatic Society, Seeds of Change, Warriors of Praise and Farhat Tuition Centre all operate with the contribution of volunteers.
